June 06 The way to God is Only One The way of Muhammad, Rasulullah. (salallahu alaihi wasalam) Obey Allah in the way shown by Rasulullah (Salallahu alaihi wasalam). Live life in the way shown by Rasulullah (salallahu alaihi wasalam). Love like Rasulullah (sallallhu alaihi wasalam). Make you heart like that of Rasulullah (sallalhu alaihi wasalam). June 02 My First Sufi Lesson As wr wb, following on from my previous blog I just want to mention one of the first simple but very important lessons I was given in tasawwuf. Maybe at that time I never realised the importance of it but looking back now I realise what an insight a sheikh has to a persons rectification. I was leaving my sheikh's house, after having visited him at home for the first time. I was putting on my shoes aware that the sunnah is to put on the right foot first and then the left. He said to me whilst putting on the shoes that Abdul majid when we follow the sunnah make the intention I am doing this so the Love of Allah comes in to my heart. As Sheikh Zakariya Rahmatullah alaihi quoted the beginning f Tasawwuf is to correct the intention all we do must be to please Allah. “Verily, my Salaah (prayer),
my sacrifice, my living, and my dying is for Allah, the Sustainer of the Aalamin (mankind, Jinn and all that exists) May 29 So you want to be a Sufi? Someone asked Sheikh Zakariyya Rahmatullah alaihi.: What is Tasawwuf? What is Reality? He answered “All it is, is to correct ones intention, nothing else. Its beginning is, “Verily all actions are judged by the intention.”, (Ikhlaas/ sincerity) and its end is, “You may worship Allah as though you see him.” ( The stage of Ihsan). A sufis heart is never away from His Creator. I read the other day Dr Abdul Hayy whenever he used to pick up a child or play with a child first he used to pause and meditate for a few seconds that this action was also performed by the Prophet of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasalam thus I am going to play with this child in accordance with the Sunnah and to please Allah. This then makes the action all the more virtuous. Similarly in other everyday things in life. eating, sleeping, walking, talking, refraining from sin, all this should be carried out in accordance to the command of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet PBUH and with the Intention that I am doing this to Please my creator. Thereby all the things we do and perform during the day become a means of our nearness and proximity to Allah. ANd Ihsan: to worship Allah as if we see Him and the least Ihsan is to be aware that Allah sees me. Ihsan comes with time through dhikr, through recting the Quran, being with pious people, refraining from sin and to practice it during salaah. When you stand up for Salaah in your heart and mind contemplate Allah is in front of me or atleast that he sees me and inshallahw ith time a person will attain Ihsan. Tasawwuf: The Beginning is correcting the Niyah (intention) and its ending is Ihsan. May 12 I wonder...I wonder what these people think friendship with God is. That God who created the heavens, who created the earth, who made the universe appear- is His friendship gained so easily that you come in and sit before Him, you talk and you listen? Do you fancy this is a soup kitchen? You come in and you drink it down? Then you just leave? - Shams TabriziDiscipline the Soul. "If his aspiration is true, his ambition pure and his concentration
good, so that his appetites do not pull at him, and he is not
distracted by the hadith an-nafs (discourse of the soul meaning egotism
of the soul) towards the attachments of the world, the gleams of the
Truth will shine in his heart. At the outset, this will resemble a
brief, inconstant shaft of lightening, which then returns, perhaps
after a delay. If it returns, it may be fleeting or firm; and if it is
firm (thabit), it may or may not endure for some time. States such as
these may come upon each other in succession, or only one type may be
present. In this regard, the stages of God's saints (awliya) are as
innumerable as their outer attributes and qualities". (Translation by
Shaykh Abdal-Hakim Murad, in Al-Ghazali on Disciplining The Soul, p.
lxvii-lxviii) Hadrat Aboo Hurairah (Soorah83 Aayah14).Masnad Imaam Ahmad bin Hanbal. But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust, Lo! The garden will be his home" (Qur'an 79:40-41) "Should I inform you of who the Mu'min (believer) is? It is he from whom people are secure with regards to their wealth and their own selves. The Muslim is he from whose tongue and hand other people are safe. The Mujahid is he who performs Jihad an-Nafs in the obedience of Allah. And the Muhajir (emmigrant) is he who abandons error and sin" - The Prophet (pbuh) in his "Farewell Speech" |
